But i could not find anyone in my area willing/able to do the job. ![]() Over the next few weeks/months i looked for a repairer. Upon realising my mistake and understanding i had broken the truss rod i loosened the tension form the strings and put the guitar back in its case. What i know now was way too stiff to be a normal truss rod adjustment, i tried to muscle through and ended up shearing the truss rod in half where the nut connects. At first things were going great, the action was becoming noticeably more comfortable…but of course i had to take things too far. I had read that truss rod adjustment could alleviate this so I thought why not give that a shot? I used an all end key and tightened the nut at the head of the guitar a 1/6th turn at a time. Now this guitar has always had horribly high action, so much so it would leave my hand aching and meant I couldn’t play for very long sessions. ![]() ![]() I’m a hobby DIYer and thought i could give this truss rod replacement on my old acoustic guitar a shot, but I’ve reached a point where i could really use some advice.īackstory: 2 years ago i had some spare time and pulled out the old acoustic guitar to play. Hello, this is my first time posting here and my first attempt at an actual guitar repair.
